Subo x Redkite: Making a difference this Christmas

This holiday season, Subo is proud to continue our partnership with Redkite to support families facing one of the toughest challenges imaginable - childhood cancer.

From 15-23 December, for every red Subo Food Bottle purchased, $5 will be donated to Redkite. Your purchase not only makes mealtimes easier but helps provide emotional, financial and practical support for families when they need it most.

About Redkite

Every day, three families in Australia receive the devasting news that their child has cancer and their world changes instantly.

Redkite supports the whole family through the entire cancer journey, providing vital emotional counselling, financial assistance and practical help when hospital life takes over.

Samantha and Florence’s Story

Through our partnership with Redkite, families like Samantha and Florence don't face childhood cancer alone. Here's their inspiring story.

When Sydney mum Samantha was six months pregnant, her two-year-old daughter Florence was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour in her kidney.

“We were in shock. It was hard to comprehend that this was happening to Florence. She was so young. We questioned it all: Why us? Why our family? I’d just been made redundant, I was pregnant. The timing was just so bad.”

Florence began four rounds of chemotherapy at Westmead Children’s Hospital, followed by major surgery to remove her kidney and the tumour,  followed by a further 10 months of chemotherapy.

Amid the chaos, Redkite was there.

Samantha received the Redkite Red Bag, filled with comfort items that became their go-to hospital bag.

“It was exciting because it's like a gift. It was full of all sorts of goodies and fit into our pram perfectly, it became our hospital bag, and it stayed packed with everything we needed, in case we needed to go to hospital urgently.”

Redkite also provided Coles grocery and fuel vouchers and helped pay an electricity bill, easing some of the everyday pressures.

Because of Redkite’s generous support, the family could focus on Florence and their new baby.

Florence completed treatment in December 2024 and is now in regular check-ups and tests for the next 5 years.

Samantha wants other families to know that it’s important to make the most of the time you have together.

“At the end of the day you can't change what's happening - you just have to make the most of whatever situation you are in. Take photos and videos, treasure the time and memories you create with your family, because in the moment, we often don’t realise how quickly it all goes.”
